Wireless Netwrk Connection Issues
Hello all have a problem here I'd appreciate some help with.
I have a cable internet connection connected to a linksys router with two gateway XP laptops on it. One of the laptops connects fine to the network set up. However the other laptop connects to the network, but cannot browse the web or open any web applications. I have tried several ways of fixing this including renew the ip address but I still have the problem. Any advice would be helpful thanks. |

Re: Wireless Netwrk Connection Issues
Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.
Make and exact model of the broadband modem. Make and exact model of the router. Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device. Connection type, wired or wireless. If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2) Make and model of your computer. Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP1-SP2, Vista, etc. Also, please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages. On any problem computer, I'd also like to see this: Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: Type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Wireless Netwrk Connection Issues
Well, that machine appears to have a good connection.
Try these simple tests. Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: PING 216.109.112.135 PING yahoo.com Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Wireless Netwrk Connection Issues
The PING results indicate a good connection to the Internet.

Re: Wireless Netwrk Connection Issues
boot the computer into Safe Mode with Networking and try using the internet (after booting into SMwN, ensure that you are connected to the internet by doing the ping test. sometimes when you have a manufacturer utility managing your wireless connection, windows fails to automatically take over in safe mode)
also download Firefox or some other browser on your other computer and transfer it over to this one and try.....this could be a browser issue |
