Angry unable to connect to the net with wireless connection

Hi all im new here and looking for some advice!!

I have a dell inspiron 1100 laptop that i have a dell truemobile 1300 802.1.1 b/g PC card in for my wireless connection.

I have tried to connect to the internet as usual but keep getting "page cannot be displayed" but the pc says that i am connected to my live box with excellent connection.

I also have a pc that has a wired connection that works perfect?

I called my net provider one man said that oh no its your wireless card and hung up and another lady actually took my details and told me it was a common fault and it will be fixed withing 3 hours that was a week ago !!

Has anyone else had this trouble ?? Is it the wireless card or the pc or internet provider im soooooooo confused with it all !!

Please help, Thank you in advance love hayley x

Re: unable to connect to the net with wireless connection

you do have a valid IP address which indicates communication with the modem/router.

do this:

1) click Start -> Run -> type cmd and press Enter
2) at the prompt, type ping 192.168.1.1 and press Enter. if you see 4 replies then continue to next step. if not, post the error message here
3) at the prompt again, type ping www.google.com and post results here

Navigate to Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections
right-click the Wireless Network Connection icon and click Properties
under 'This connection uses the following items:' highlight Internet Protocol TCP/IP (do not uncheck it) and click Properties
tell me which options are selected

Re: unable to connect to the net with wireless connection

2. reply was 192.168.1.1' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch files.

3. not sure if the next step was no 3 or the bit below! but result was ping request could not find host www.google.com. please check the name and try again.

Thanks Hayley

Re: unable to connect to the net with wireless connection

in step 2, did you type the ' after the numbers? the command should be ping 192.168.1.1 and not ping 192.168.1.1'

in 3, the message 'could not find host' indicates that there is a failure in communication with the internet. perform step 2 the right way and post the results here

please do this.
Navigate to Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections
right-click the Wireless Network Connection icon and click Properties
under 'This connection uses the following items:' highlight Internet Protocol TCP/IP (do not uncheck it) and click Properties
tell me which options are selected

also try this:

shut the laptop down
press the power button to start it back up and immediately start tapping the F8 key
you should see the advanced options menu. select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter
once the computer is booted up, connect to your wireless network again and try to browse the internet
