Hi all,
My first post here i hope you can help. Ok I have Xp on my PC and Vista on my laptop. My crossover cable is attached and both say connected, However! 1, I Cannot locate the laptop from the PC and vice versa. 2, Both machines are sending packets but neither are recieving. I did turn off both firwalls, antivirus but still no joy. I have double checked that file/printer sharing is turned on and i have told both computers what drives i want shared. I have also put them on the same workgroup. Im stumped. thanks in advance. Peace |

Re: Network Using Crossover Xp And Vista Problems
You need to do a bit more. For Internet sharing, take a look at this Microsoft ICS (Internet Connection Sharing tutorial.
If you just want to connect them with no Internet involved, we can do that too, take a look at this tutorial: http://www.ezlan.net/Installing.html

Re: Network Using Crossover Xp And Vista Problems
For each of the computers, please post this.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: Type the following two commands: nbtstat -n ipconfig /all Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Network Using Crossover Xp And Vista Problems
Well, the obvious flaw is that you don't have DHCP enabled on the XP machine. Are you intending to use ICS, or just a manual configuration?
