Ethernet hub question

hi - i had DSL service for my internet connection and have been running the connection through an ethernet hub ... i have my primary cpu and have an ethernet cable running directly to an older cpu from the hub for internet access on the older cpu

i switched from DSL service to Cable internet service today; my primary cpu (windows xp) connects fine to the internet, but i can no longer access the internet from my older cpu (running windows 2000) ... the hub says my older cpu is connected, and my older cpu reads as connected but is receiving no packets and i can't get online

does anyone know where i might be going wrong or have any suggestions? thanks!

That's because your DSL "modem" was a modem/router, and allowed multiple private IP addresses. Your cable modem is not a combined modem/router, so you'll need a broadband router to connect more than one machine.
