Win XP freezes at startup on Laptop Asus F3Sc

I have an Asus F3Sc, i installed Win XP and now if the Ethernet cable is pluged in when i´m starting, the Computer Freezes. But if i remove it just half a second and plug it again it unlockes and keeps starting.
Its the same with Win Vista.
But works properly if i install Linux Ubuntu for example.
Windows doesn´t really freezes, it keeps processing just doesn´t pass from a certain file and stops until i do that trik.

Any idea?

Sounds like a driver issue, are you sure you have the exactly correct drivers for that NIC?

I downloaded them from asus.com
The problem remains on Win XP and Win Vista, always with the same File.
Don´t remember the filename.
But i could see it when i started in command mode and we see all the files loading.

It could be a problem with the hardware on the board. FWIW, I've had several Asus machines Ethernet ports bite the dust.
