Hey folks,
I have a quick networking question. My work just got a new server (an Apple Xserve) and now I am having to map 16 network drives (folders on the Apple server) through my XP Pro machine. Before the change I had 4 mapped drives. Now it seems that I am taking a HUGE performance hit when I go to open, save, etc. Is it possible that the massive increase in mapped drives is causing this performance hit? Oh, and there are 7 more people in my department that have map the same 16 drives and about 30+ more people on the network that are mapping 3 drives instead of the 1 drive they had mapped previously. Can anyone tell me if it is possible that we have too many mapped drives on our machines? Thanks |

Re: Quick Networking question
Yes, mapping a lot of drives can be a performance issue. Do you "really" need to map all those folders? It could also be the Apple's way of handling mapped folders/drives, I'm not really familiar with the Apple systems.
