Wireless network problem under WinXP
So I've been working on a friends wireless network. He's got a server and an NT4 machine connected to each other wirelessly. The NT4 machine has a PCMCIA to ISA card with a wireless PCMCIA Lucent Ornico card in it. It works fine.
Well he decided one day that NT4 is getting a little outdated and would like to upgrade to XP. So he get's a Gateway WinXP machine from somewhere and puts a PCMCIA to PCI card in it with the Lucent Ornioco card. The card's drivers install fine and he configures the wireless settings to match what they were on the NT4 machine. Here's where the problem begins. As soon as the wireless connection is established we can ping the server for about 10 seconds before the connection dies and all pings result in a timeout. If we put the card back in the NT4 machine the connection works flawlessly. Anyone have any idea why the connection would act up in WinXP? We've got the correct drivers. |

Re: Wireless network problem under WinXP
Have you tried the card in a laptop? I'd be thinking along the lines of the PCMCIA to PCI adapter being the issue.

Re: Wireless network problem under WinXP
Sounds like you have a compatibility issue with the card hardware or the drivers and XP. Have you checked with Lucent support about the issue?
