Networking is a problem
Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite which I purchased in 2002. Until recently it works well. I have aa Linksys network at home and I am able to use my laptop at home with my wireless card. I have always been able to travel and get the wireless networks at hotels until recently. I am not able to get any networks at any of the hotels. HELP Jeannette |

Re: Networking is a problem
Hard to say if you're still getting wireless connections at home. What were the symptoms at the hotels? Did you see the wireless network and just fail to connect?

Re: Networking is a problem
Thank You John for the quick reply.
Yes it does give me a signal. I was able to connect at one time however a friend of mine did a microsoft update and since I had not updated in quite sometime. This is when my problem began. It has now been 6 months and I am still having network connection except in my home. Thank You JRollan |

Re: Networking is a problem
Have you tried removing all the stored wireless profiles and recreating them when you go to a hotel? That's the only thing I can think of.

Re: Networking is a problem
the first thing that i would check is the ip address set for the Wireless adaptor... make sure it is set to obtain ip address automatically.... if it is set to a static ip, it may just work only in your network and may conflict on others.
if that wouldnt work... it may be a an adaptor problem, try to reinstall/update wirelss adaptor driver, there are some cases that ip configurations/profiles are locked in the card itself (recreating new profiles as johnwill mentioned should be tried first)... if you could borrow another wless adaptor just to test, it would be nice. |
