Setting up wireless network with a usb cable modem
Hey guys, I have a friend who has a surfboard motorola 9000 cable modem. It uses a usb cable to plug into the computer. Now when I take that usb plug out of the computer where is it supposed to go in the router? I tried unplugging it completely from the modem and computer and using the ethernet port but it doesn't work. If The usb cable is plugged into the modem and then in the computer there is internet on the comp. When I unplug it and go ethernet (from the modem) to ethernet (to the computer) They don't get internet. So when I set up the router I used the ethernet cable from the modem to the internet slot on the router, and the laptop gets a connection but with no internet. So my question is how do I make the modem send internet through the ethernet port, or how do I set up a wireless router with a usb based cable modem? Do i need a certain type of router?
Thanks guys. |

Re: Setting up wireless network with a usb cable modem
You MUST disconnect the USB, then power cycle the modem, the Ethernet will then function.
