Networking overkill - connection speed ?

I have a home hub system using a hub closet connecting 4 computers (+ 1 wireless) lots more outlets but we dont use them. I have Comcast modem, router linksys wireless 2.4 GHz broadband 4-port switch and Linksys Etherfast 24-port auto sensing hub (EFAH24). We do share files mainly music and photos between computers...my internet connection speed is Download 3958 kb/s & Upload 1520 kb/s. Is the hub overkill and does it slow up connection between computers or internet because of the additional ports and devices ? Is their a simpler faster connection or is this the best configuration ? Thanks for any advice.

Re: Networking overkill - connection speed ?

Unused ports have no effect on the network performance.
