Help ?
all ! so far i am really liking the site My question is what is how would i network my laptop (Windows XP) to my desktop (Vista)? for file sharing? now i looked around and i saw a few ways like one being a firewire or an RJ45 cable to a CAT5 but i dont understand how to set any of these up.me and my wife want to share some larger files and i think this may be the only way to do so.Any feedback would help a great deal ![]() |

Re: Help ?
If both computers has ethernet network interfaces for cable, then buy
"crossover cable" - it is on first sight the same like "patch cable", only it has crossed wires inside. This cable can connect both computers without other device (switch). Then set IP addresses, on first comp. for example: 192.168.1.10,255.255.255.0, (on properties of ethernet card with connected cable) and second comp. 192.168.1.11,255.255.255.0. And you have functional connection. Michael |

Re: Help ?
Take a look at: Windows XP And Vista On The LAN Together.
Also, we need to know if you have a broadband router (highly recommended).
