problem staying connected
I have this problem where a little window would pop up in the lower right hand corner of my screen that says something like,
"Active network has been changed Local Network" I play World of Warcraft and it does it mostly when I'm playing that and it basically restarts my network connection and boots me from the game. It's become to be a little bothersome and was wondering if anyone knows what's going on and if there is anything I can do to relieve this problem.

Re: problem staying connected
I found something about it when I googled "active area has changed" and it apparently has to do with my AVG Firewall. Well, in this forum where I found it (http://help.lockergnome.com/windows2...ict478265.html) they are using AVG 7.5.431 Plus Firewall. I am using AVG 7.5 Internet Security and in the forum they talk about turning off a setting for "Area Detection" fixing the problem. But, I can't find that setting in my version.

Re: problem staying connected
Try disabling it totally and see if the issue goes away.

Re: problem staying connected
The issue didn't go away at all. Even with my AVG Firewall inactive, I still get stability issues. It's not as frequent when roaming the internet, but it gets more frequent when playing online games. Would it be possible that I'm putting too much stress on the DSL or even the router?

Register at DSLReports and run their line quality tests. Post a link to the results here.

Re: problem staying connected
While I was at work today, my father called SBC and they said that there is no problem with the line. But, while working on a download, the download stopped at 34% and the modem restarted itself. In other words, we need a new modem. In less there is something I can do to lower the cost significantly.

Re: problem staying connected
Well, I'm not sure I'd take SBC's word for it.
A new cable modem can be had for $20-30, so it's not a big expense.

Re: problem staying connected
How does it perform connected directly to the modem? Can you run the following when connected directly to the modem with a wired connection?
Register at DSLReports and run their line quality tests. Post a link to the results here.
