Not Receiving Packets
Hi,
I broke my ethernet port on my laptop and because it has all these crappy intergrated cards my only option was to get a USB Ethernet adapter. So I go and get one, plug it in, updated the driver and then it shows up in my Network Connections. I copy my IP config into the new LAN and it quickly changes it's status to Connected. Despite this, the internet still doesn't work! When I check the status it shows I'm receiving packets but not sending any. I connect straight to my cable modem via cat5 cable, no router. The new LAN has the latest drivers. I've tried using different cat5 cables and still it doesn't work so it can't be that. I can't ping any sites over the internet but I have pinged 127.0.0.1 with 4 packets sent/received and 0 losses so I don't think it's my new NIC. My modem has always worked fine before my ethernet port broke so I'm sure it's not that either. I've also tried WinSockFix which didn't help. Here's my ipconfig: Ethernet adapter USB LAN: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : DM9601 USB To Fast Ethernet Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-47-FA Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 203.97.174.*** Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 203.97.174.*** DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 203.96.152.4 203.96.152.12 Thanks in advance. |

Re: Not Receiving Packets
What is the make/model of the modem?
Why is DHCP disabled on the connection? Most broadband accounts will require this to be enabled.
