comcast connection random drops

Using comcast broadband cable modem that was recently installed because the one before died,

while using the internet the connection suddenly drops every so often and the modem shows no problem, it SHOWS that i should be connected and stuff but im not and im forced to either reboot the modem or simply unplug my usb cord and put it back in and wait a minute or so for it to begin working again,

this is quite a hassle when it happens more often that it should at all.

How do i fix this!?

Register at DSLReports and run their line quality tests. Post a link to the results here.
