wireless bridge question
i need to connect my xbox 360 to my wireless network but i need some kind of bridge because i don't want to pay 100$ for Microsoft's wireless antenna so i looked around and found that i could use a bridge because it converters the wireless signal into a wired connection which can be plugged into the xbox with an enternet cable (correct me if I'm wrong as all that i learned from a little Internet research)
anyway my question is is this a good choose or is this even what i need or does anyone have a good suggestion http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833702014 |

Re: wireless bridge question
It looks like it should do the job just fine.

Re: wireless bridge question
OK so i got it in today and setting it up seems to be harder then i thought i have it connected to my laptop to configure it. it has 4 modes to choose from access point, bridge, client, repeater when i choose bridge it ask to set up WDS and ask for a mac address i tryed putting the one i found on my routers config page but still no luck i need it to take my wireless signal thats WEP encrypted and turn it in to a "live internet wire" i cant figure it out and the manual doesn't help much
heres the product page where you can find the manual http://www.advanteknetworks.com/supp...WN-AP-54MR.pdf |

Re: wireless bridge question
Try configuring it in Client mode.

Re: wireless bridge question
should i put it on ad hoc or infestructure? ive tryed both but i must be missing something some where. If it was set up correct i would be able to connect to the internet by pluging the cable into my laptop and turning off the wireless switch right?
anyway here are the settings i have i set most of them back to defult after nothing worked Wireless Basic Settings -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [unchecked] Disable Wireless LAN Interface Band: 2.4 GHz (B+G) Mode: Client Network Type: "Infrastructure" SSID: Channel Number: Auto [unchecked] Enable Mac Clone (Single Ethernet Client) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wireless Advanced Settings -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Authentication Type: Auto Fragment Threshold: (2346) RTS Threshold: (2347) Beacon Interval: (100 ms) Data Rate: Auto Preamble Type: Long Preamble Broadcast SSID: Enabled IAPP: Enabled 802.11g Protection: Enabled Wireless Security Setup -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Encryption: WEP [unchecked] Use 802.1x Authentication (WEP 64bits or WEP 128bits) LAN Interface Setup This page is used to configure the parameters for local area network which connects to the LAN port of your Access Point. Here you may change the setting for IP addresss, subnet mask, DHCP, etc.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IP Address: 192.168.1.254 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 0.0.0.0 DHCP: Disabled or Client or "Server" DHCP Client Range: 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.200 DNS Server: 802.1d Spanning Tree: Disabled Clone MAC Address: 000000000000 |

Re: wireless bridge question
ok it seems to be something with the ip address after settings the ip address to something different and disabling DHCP i connected through the bridge but after unplugging in and plugging into my xbox it didn't work so i plugged it back into my computer and it says aquireing ip address for a while then it starts saying little or no connectivity and if i try to repair it i cant renew ip address...

Re: [SOLVED] wireless bridge question
Glad we could help.
Truthfully, I didn't know it was in two places either, I was just reading the manual. It's much harder without having the equipment in front of you to tinker with.
