Downloading stops even when internet is connected

Hi,
I have High Speed Lite Internet connection. I am trying to download one student software (size 140MB)(Software link is given by my school). Every time it downloads upto 98MB (around 100) and suddenly I receive a message saying "Firewall OFF" and stops downloading while the internet is still connected. I contacted internet provider and they say it's my computer settings problem.

Please help me....

Thanks in advance

Re: Downloading stops even when internet is connected

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Make and model of the broadband modem.
Make and model of the router.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make/model of your computer.
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2, Vista, etc.

Also, please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

On any problem computer, I'd also like to see this:

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

My computer perfectly downloads if a file is less than/around 90MB size. If it is more than that while downloading I get a message with SECURITY CENTRE ICON saying “Your computer is at risk. Your firewall is OFF”. Immediately downloading stops. Even if I hit the pause/resume button, it doesn’t start. If I open Control Panel>Firewall, it is in OFF mode. Automatically in few seconds (2-3sec) it goes back to ON mode.

I hope I gave the required information

Re: Downloading stops even when internet is connected

Everything looks normal there. That is a VERY strange symptom.

Try booting in safe mode with networking and see if the download works that way. I have to believe this is something on the machine...

Re: Downloading stops even when internet is connected

Thanks for your quick reply.

Here is what I did today. I turned OFF the FIREWALL and downloaded one file (size 140MB) without any problem. But second one stopped at 110MB. Again I tried and it worked. So I believe it has something to do with my FIREWALL setting. But I have no idea about it.

Re: Downloading stops even when internet is connected

Hard to say. This kind of issue is very difficult to diagnose remotely in ASCII.
