Serious Lag and Another Problem
Sorry that this is my first post here, but I really need the help. Getting mad that I can't figure this out.
Okay, my girlfriend is having some network problems. First off, she is lagging like hell on wireless, but only when gaming. I've tried quite a few things already to fix this, but just can't get my head to even find the problem. We've openned ports on her router. I forgot about the modem, so we're doing that tomorrow hoping that we canget through tech support tomorrow because I have no idea how to access this Cox/Arris stuff, but I don't think this is the problem still. Any suggestions on helping find the problem would be nice. Next, when trying to plug her into hard wire/line she cannot find an IP address. It goes to the default 168. . .with "limited or no connection" and I can't seem to find the problem. Her DHCP is running fine. I did check adapter settings, but it still shows the DHCP is not running within the Local Connection Details (or it is at least not there). I've tried the ipconfig /release -- ipconfig /renew, but no luck. Any suggestions? Note: Windows XP Laptop 502 RAM (Yeah, I know she needs more, but I'm pretty sure this is not the problem.) 1.6 Ghz Arris Router TM502G Anything else?
