I have a Canon PIXMA iP4500 connected to my Windows XP computer via USB. It is shared on a network, and other Windows computers print from it. (The driver installed on XP is only for XP/2000.) I have a Mac running OS X 10.4.10, and I'm having a hard time printing from the Mac to the printer on Windows.
I've tried every tutorial I could find online, but no help. From the Mac, I tried to click "Add printer..." > More Printers... > Select Windows Printing and then the printer on the network. But my specific printer isn't on the list of drivers to use from. However, if I choose Generic driver, nothing prints, except the light on the printer might flash once or twice. If I select a Canon printer, a blank page prints. I had updated the Mac's GIMP drivers, so the PIXMA iP4300 is on the list of printers, but my specific one isn't. Even with a similar printer selected, it prints a blank page. I installed the PIXMA iP4500 printer driver to the Mac, but I don't know how/if I could use this driver when setting up a network printer. I also followed the directions on http://iharder.sourceforge.net/curre...winmacprinter/ but every time I try to print, I get an error from GSview about "File 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\Canon iP4500 series' does not exist." and I don't know what I need to do different. So how do I print from the Mac? Maybe if I wait until the GIMP drivers support the iP4500? |
