Well i know i cant give you much info because its not my router but a friend of mine who is trying to host a web server and yesterday we tried to open port 80 and setup a web server so he can host some files and for some reason the router at first didnt want to forward that port and then i guess he did because i was able to access a webpage by typing his IP but then i tried to reload the page and it was gone
(The connection has timed out). Its been doing the same thing for the rest of the night (opening the port and closing it) Does anyone have a idea why it would open that port and close it on its own ? My friend has a game server that requires port 2593 to be open and i can connect to the game with no problem but that port 80 was crazy. ![]() Also could that be a virus that might close and open the port ? |

Re: linksys nr041 (router) refuse to open port 80
A virus affecting the router? I doubt it.
I'd download and install the latest firmware, reset the router to factory defaults, and reconfigure. See if that helps.

Re: linksys nr041 (router) refuse to open port 80
Yea he works all day to about midnight and we talk in yahoo messenger so i will try to tell him that but i was wandering if the virus might be on the computer and not letting people connect to port 80 even if the router is forwarding to it ?
Like a virus firewall or something. haha |

Hard to know what's happening when you're getting the clues third hand.

Yea it is hard
![]() What should we check for if its not working ? I see on the other posts you are asking about the network and how its set so i will ask him that and ask him to type ipconfig /all and tell me what it tells him. Let me know if i have to ask something specific or if you can tell me like a software or something that can help him configure his router or maybe check his ports and if they are open ? Thanks for the help |

Re: linksys nr041 (router) refuse to open port 80
Since he has Internet access, it would be best to deal directly. He can create an account here and work his problem first-hand.
