Static IP and port forwarding
k, I'm confused, and not sure whether this would go in this category or not, but I assume so, if not, sorry.
I'm having problems bittorenting. . However, I can't seem to connect to anything at all with the program I'm using. (Utorrent) I couldn't get from anything very fast, and then I tried a different website to verify. Nothing connects, and when I tried to test the ports, it told me it was closed, and to go to www.portforward.com and that would help me set it up. So I set up a static IP, then port forwarded like it. The only problem is, all thje static IPs he was listing was 192.(something). My static IP (according to his program on the website ) was different. It started with 10.0.0 I'm currently going through a Netgear Wgt64 V 3 router. I have Bellsouth Fast Access DSL. So I went through the process of setting up my static IP, and he said after his steps if you could connect to the internet, everything was ok, and I could connect. So I then did the port forwarding. I then tried testing the port utorrent set up once more to see if it let me go through, however it still told me it was closed and I can't connect fast. I am using Windows XP SP2 I believe. Can anyone help me figure out what the problem is? The file I'm trying to get (It's legal, so hope you don't get mad. ) I can't. I've tried everything to be able to connect fast, and nothing is working, I just can't open the ports. I currently have 2 pcs hardwired to this, a Xbox 360, and a ps2. Two other computers are connected wirelessly. This computer is the one I was doing everything from, and it is connected wirelessly. Last edited by Dr.Sarcasm : 11-10-2007 at 11:01 AM. |
