Help with Lag
I share 3 wired connections to a WBR-1310 Router but whenever my Dad uses the router at the same time as me my ping in counter strike flys to 600-1000 same with internet explorer... I pinged google and i was running around 500-900. This lag is either caused by my dads computer being on or him downloading music from limewire. Does anyone have any ideas to help me?
PS: Whenever he is out or at work my ping is running fine Last edited by ledzeppelin01 : 11-10-2007 at 10:56 AM. |

Re: Help with Lag
It may be legal in Canada, but we don't support P2P here at TSF.
Please review the Tech Support Forum Rules & Conduct, and you'll see we provide no support for P2P applications here at TSF.

Re: Help with Lag
You will have to set up some kind of packet throttling. Expensive routers can do it by port. Linux can do it using a program called "/sbin/tc". tc can throttle by packet length and port number. See if limewire has a "throttling" screen that can limit bandwidth.
