Dynamic IP's and Port Forwarding
Hey,
I've got a problem I hope people can help me with. I'm running a Linksys WRT54G wireless router which is used by myself, my parents and my brother (for various things, such as PC, 360, PS3, handheld) we are currently set to Auto configuration DHCP in the router settings. Now I have a program that needs a port open to run correctly, I found a guide on www.portforward.com http://portforward.com/english/route...G/Utorrent.htm Which says you must have the bit I have as Auto Configuration to static IP. What effect will changing to a static IP have on my access and use of the router and everyone elses in my house? Will it cause any problems? Also at the bottom of that page theres a little grid with what you should put in to the settings to allow port forwarding and it says "IP address" which IP address am I meant to be entering? |
