Di-624 wireless, but no modem

Hi all,

I live in Armenia, and recently purchased a Di-624 (D-Link) wireless router. However, due to the oddity of my DSL provider, I don't actually have a DSL modem, but rather connected directly to the internet via a cable from the computer to the roof (wacky, I know). The Di-624 claims to need a modem - is there ANY way to configure the Di-624 so that it can both connect to the internet and broadcast a wireless signal without a modem?

ALternately, if I went out and bought a DSL modem and connected that to the wire coming in from the window and then to the router, would that help?

Thanks much,

CH

Re: Di-624 wireless, but no modem

Is the cable coming from the roof an Ethernet CAT5 cable with an RJ-45 connection to a standard Ethernet NIC in your machine? If so, let's see this:

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Well, that was pretty useless, since you blanked out all the pertinent information.
