Hi
I have 3 computers in my house(one pc one laptop and a macbookpro) and i have a wireless connection.I have this wireless router modem (linksys wag200g) In order to connect my mac to the network in wireless access tab i have the option "Permit only listed computers to access the wireless network" and i have added my mac's airport id and all works fine.I have 100% access on my network. With my laptop in order to connect i must choose in wireless access the option " Allow All ''.And i have noticed that people who live near me can access my internet connection.I want to stop this. Can you tell me what do i need to find so i can add my laptop to the permited list? Thanks in advance. Your Site has helped me many times and i really appreciate this.

Re: Wireless Connection
You need to enable encryption on the router. It would help if you gave us the make/model of the laptop.
I recommend WPA encryption if all the devices support it, it's much more secure than WEP.

Why everyone accessing your wireless network because it is not secured you have to make your wireless secured
Open internet explore Login to your linksys wag200g http://192.168.1.1 this is the default IP address of linksys wag200g if u havent change any configuration its should be set to same IP address u can find the IP address to access your linksys wag200g under local area connection > status check for gateway assign to local area connection that is your linksys wag200g IP to login. When you logged in first option Setup Second option wireless under wireless option First is Basic wireless setting Second wireless security Tab there and flow these step WPA-Personal. To use WPA-Personal, select WPA-Personal from the Security Mode drop-down menu. Select a method of encryption. Then enter a Passphrase and a Key Renewal period. Encryption. WPA offers you two encryption methods, TKIP and AES, with dynamic encryption keys. Select the type of algorithm you want to use, TKIP or AES.( use AES) Passphrase. Enter a Passphrase (also called a WPA Shared Key) of 8-32 characters. Key Renewal. Enter a Key Renewal timeout period, which instructs the Gateway how often it should change the encryption keys. When finished making your changes on this tab, click the Save Settings button to save these changes, or click the Cancel Changes button to undo your changes. WPA2-Personal. To use WPA2-Personal, select WPA2-Personal from the Security Mode drop-down menu. Select a method of encryption. Then enter a Passphrase and a Key Renewal period. Encryption. Re: Wireless Connection
If you have WPA-TKIP with a strong random key, nobody is accessing your network that way without you giving them the key.

Re: Wireless Connection
First off, does your laptop support WPA? If so, you need to remove all the stored wireless profiles, search for wireless networks, and connect with a freshly created profile with the new WPA key.
