Hi guys
We are establishing a branch outside Kuwait. I would like to know (not specific to Kuwait's conditions) what are the best connectivity options, at the same time cost effective incase if we want to establish a connectivity between our HO in Kuwait and the branch outside Kuwait, specifically for Citrix published applications. At present we are planning to start with a DSL/Cable internet connection which is not less than 1mbps @ our external branch and use VPN for the connectivity. how reliable this is? Thanks in advance

Re: Best connectivity option(s)
The reliability of any connection is going to be highly dependent on the reliability of the carrier that supplies the connection. While you specify (not specific to Kuwait's conditions), that's somewhat misleading, since this is VERY dependent on the local ISP connection.

Re: Best connectivity option(s)
Well, I'd be using a VPN. Obviously, the only cost effective solution is using the Internet infrastructure. The real decision is what performance level you need, and that will be dictated by the speed of your local ISP connections at each end. Also, note that DSL connections are asymmetrical, and the uplink will be the slowest. Since you're going between two sites, there will always be an uplink bottleneck in the path, so that will be the limiting factor.

Re: Best connectivity option(s)
Thank you very much for the post John. I think at present we will go ahead with the VPN connectivity between these branches.
Regards
