hi folks,
my main pc can 'see'/ping my router successfully but I'm unable to access the internet with it - any thoughts please??? after installing some legit demo software on my main pc I had both my pc's knocked off my network. my n/w is back up (as evidenced by this post) but I'm unable to access the web from my main pc despite it successfully pinging the Netgear DG 856 router. my main pc also had the AVG firewall set to Block All traffic, I've since set the profile back to Member of a Domain AND I've un/reinstalled the NIC driver. Your suggestions gratefully received. Many thanks. Yo

Re: can 'see' router but cannot 'see' internet - any ideas???
Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.
Make and model of the broadband modem. Make and model of the router. Connection type, wired or wireless. If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2) Make/model of your computer. Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2, Vista, etc. Also, please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages. On any problem computer, I'd also like to see this: Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt: Type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: can 'see' router but cannot 'see' internet - any ideas???
hi johnwill,
thanks for your post; before I could get the requested details posted onto the forum it seems that one of the bootable drives on my pc has 'come right' seemingly of its own accord and has 'recovered' its ability to access the internet without any 'adjustments' on my part. I'm not quite sure what's going on here but I again have i/net access so I guess this post is solved (but I'm not sure how or why!). best wishes, yoyojoe
