Re: Laptop cant see card
Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.
Make and model of the broadband modem. Make and model of the router. Connection type, wired or wireless. If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2) Make/model of your computer. Make/model of the wireless card. Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2, Vista, etc. Also, please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages. When you first power up and the card doesn't work, do this: Start, Run, devmgmt.msc Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?

Re: Laptop cant see card
Hi thanks for your help.
I connect to the internet with a netgear wireless card model wg511t and use a netgear router(I dont know which model) on Sky broadband with wep security. My computer is a compaq presario 2500 running on windows xp home sp2. My problem is when i power up my computer i cant connect to the internet untill i remove and reinsert the card. In device manage the card is listed with a yellow !, in properties it says "device cannot start". When i power up one of the two lights flashes on my card and when i remove the card my computer plays the sound to say it has been removed. I have tried reinstalling the software and updating the drivers. |

Re: Laptop cant see card
I would guess that the cardbus drivers may be the issue. Have you looked for updated chipset drivers for the Compaq laptop?

Re: Laptop cant see card
The BIOS and the chipset drivers would be my choice. Yep, Compaq (HP) is the place to get the drivers and the BIOS.
