How Would I split tv and internet connection?
Alright...so i have a tv in my room that has a coax cable hooked up to it, and i can watch tv on it, but i currently am using a wireless connection for my desktop i recently put in my room. The wireless is ok, but it lags alot for online gaming..and i was planning on buying a nice cable modem, probably this one, and splitting the coax cable.
So would this be the right way to do it: Buy a coax 2-way splitter and 2 more coax cables, then hookup the tv and connect the splitter to the modem...then run an ethernet cable from the modem to my motherboard ethernet port? is it that simple? Is it possible that the coax cable connected to my tv ONLY provides tv, and wouldnt work for internet? |

Re: How Would I split tv and internet connection?
Well, it would help a LOT if you told us what ISP you have. You can't just buy a cable modem and connect it to the TV feed and expect it to work, even if you have a cable ISP.

Re: How Would I split tv and internet connection?
The coax outlet could only be for tv. Check with ur isp if the tv outlet supports internet connection as internet connection from an outlet requires a stronger signal than tv.

Re: How Would I split tv and internet connection?
It also requires an ISP account and a cable modem that's registered on the ISP's system.
