[SOLVED] Trying to understand the need for mapping
Hi - I have an XP machine networked to a 2000 machine. I have shortcuts on each desktop leading to the other machine. I understand that mapping will create a drive letter on a computer and that I can drag and drop a file to the drive letter. Is that why a person would map the network?
Why doesn't the network wizard just set up a map when it adds a new connection? |

Re: Trying to understand the need for mapping
I use drive mapping to allow programs to access and store files on the Mapped Drive. Can't be done with shortcuts
