wireshark w/ VPC 2007 help

Hi all,
Just trying to do an assignment and I am asked to create two virtual pcs which i have done. I have set the to the local only mode as this is a test between the two. I have been asked to give each of the the following ip address:
Computer name VM1 VM2
IP address 192.168.1.1/24 192.168.1.2/24

I am lost as to what the /24 is at the end of the ip address. Where does this go. I have been into the ip settings and tried there.

sorry, I have set the network adapters to Local mode
