Netgear Vpn Fvs318 Firewall Tunnel

Hi, please help,

We have two systems in different locations that we want to connect via VPN tunnel so one updates from the other. We have one up and running with a NETGEAR VPN FVS318v3. The other one -the backup one- with the same VPN FVS318v3 and an Actiontec DSL modem, that we can't get to work.
We first set up the modem with the IP interface with a static IP address, mask, DNS, etc. And got that running. But when we set up the NETGEAR VPN, and our static IP, etc. on NETGEAR's interface, internet stops working. We were told from NETGEARS support that we had to bridge the modem and disable DHCP on the modem, and we went on to do that following our IP support directions, but still no internet. In the VPN's status, it doesnt show its being connected with the static IP address all the way. But we don't seem to find where is the problem. Please do help. Thanks!
