Supposed to have 24 Mbit, only getting 8 - need help
I had a 8192/1024 cable connection from my ISP (ComHem) for a long time and quite a while ago I upgraded to a 24576/1024 cable connection... however, I still only have 8 Mbit/s and I have no idea why. I've emailed them, they've replied with some suggestions... I've changed my Link Speed/Duplex Mode to 100Mbps/Full Duplex, not using any firewalls and currently I've disconnected my router. Still only 8 Mbit/s eventhough they insist I'm supposed to have 24 Mbit/s. Any help is appreciated. I'll retrieve whatever info is needed. Here is a tracert I just did:

http://speakeasy.net/speedtest/
see if you get over 8meg there(also a tracecert has little to do with your connection speed) also remember, maybe the place your testing your speed with doesnt have a 24mbit connection Last edited by mrbum123 : 10-13-2007 at 07:01 PM. |

Re: Supposed to have 24 Mbit, only getting 8 - need help
In addition, note that many cable modems and routers may limit the maximum speed you can get. For instance, I noticed that my aging DI-614+ would limit my throughput to around 8mbit/sec, however the Actiontec MI424WR I have now allows my full 15mbit bandwidth.
