Sympatico connection drops every 30mins

I have called sympatico technical service and they were no help at all. Nothing good came out of it. This problem started yesterday suddenly and my internet was D/Cing every 10mins with my router. It started d/c every 10mins and then when I tried to just connect directly to my modem (as suggested by the sympatico help) it was better. They had me create a new connection though, but even if it is better it still D/c every 30mins. It gets really annoying. The connection will drop and the connect itself back again.

I have tried a lot of things and they do not work. My wiring from router, modem, to computer, and w.e are correct. But I am still having this strange problem. They did not say n e thing was wrong or if there was n e maintenance. But if they did I probably couldn't understand what they said so I just said okay (after giving up trying to understand them).

My config is (a SpeedStream 5360 modem and a SMC Barricade SMC7004ABR router).

Sympatico High Speed Edition (no wireless in house)

This sure sounds like an ISP issue, and I don't see anything in that log that would explain what's happening. If it disconnects connected directly to the modem, clearly it's the modem or something that comes before it.

hmmm...do you think I should try to get a new modem? or what? Cause I called them already and the technical help was from India... or coudl it be my line? But I didn't thinki t could be cause I've been using sympatico for a number of years now and it's only now that it has the problem :S

If you've had the same service for a number of years, the modem, wiring, or the ISP infrastructure may have developed a problem. You're going to have to start somewhere. If they supply the modem, then I'd clearly get a replacement to see if that helps.

hmmm..ya I'm having Bell send one over...should be here by tuesday/wednesday hopefully.

But just today, the internet has gotten a LOT better, no disconnects yet I believe (knock on wood). No clue why.

This is almost certainly an ISP issue, and I'd suspect the lines. It's not an uncommon scenario.
