Desperately need help with Dlink wireless network

Here's what I have:
dlink dir-625 wireless N router
dlink dwa-130 wireless N usb adapter
Comcast ISP
Motorola SURFboard Cable Modem
2 computers - Windows XP SP2 on both

Here's my problem:
I can find/connect to my wireless network just fine. I can get online with both the computer wired to the router and the one using the usb adapter. However, with the one using the usb browsing the internet will quickly slow to a hault and say it cannot connect with ANY servers. The same thing happens on that computer when I use a program that requires an internet connection (STEAM for instance.) When this happens, I'm still connected to my network, I just can't do anything online. If I manually disconnect then reconnect to the network, everything works fine for about a minute... or less. I can keep reconnecting, but what is the point of browsing for only a minute at a time. Also, the signal strength is at 100%.

Here's the kicker:
I can also connect to my neighbors unsecured dlink network, go online, stay for as long as I like, and do everything else (mind you at slow speeds and a poor signal to begin with) and have no problems. I just can't get online with my network.

Now, I called customer support and they had me try a lot of things. Changing the channel I'm on, enabling this, disabling that, unpuging everything/plugging it all back in later. This didn't help. They then said it was a defective adapter, but if that is true, then why can I connect to my neighbor's dlink without a problem? And if it were the router, then why can I still connect to my network at all?

I've also tried changing the channel a bunch myself, disabling WEP protection, altering the default router ip and ip range, resetting everything back to factory defaults, and...

Well, that's all I could think of. Does anyone else have any suggestions/help for me. I'm not yet ready to just write off the equipment, send it back at my own cost and hope for the best.

Did you try downloading the latest firmware for the router?

Just on a lark, try configuring the router for 802.11g only support, turn off the 802.11n support. See if that changes the issue.

IT'S FIXED! IT'S FIXED! THANK GOD IT'S REALLY FIXED!

johnwill - I have the latest firmaware, I tried what you suggested, that unfortunately didn't work.

BUT, while I was looking through the different options, I came upon the firewall settings. Even though I disabled the firewall before, I left the ALG settings alone, since I didn't and still don't know what they do. This time I disabled every one of them and IT WORKED!

I'm so happy and I still have a few hairs left. And since no one else tried to help me, thank you johnwill. If it hadn't been for your suggestion, I wouldn't have blindly (and somewhat drunkenly) stumbled on the one that worked. That's what we call idiot's luck!

I only have one more question:
By disabling the ALG settings, what exactly did I do?

Try page 44 in the manual. Apparently, there is provisions for special handling of some protocols through the router. Apparently, this is not an uncommon issue, since they advise turning it off in a number of scenarios.
