Re: Vista/XP
All depends on how you want to network. I'm assuming share files, printers, etc?
Its pretty much the same thing on both, its just in slightly different places. Pretty much, first thing you want to do is make sure they are in the same workgroup. On XP, easiest way is to go to SYSTEM in control pannel, the computer name tab, then click the change button. It will allow you to put in a workgroup name (whatever you want it to be) On vista, open the Control Panel, open System, and then click Advanced System Settings in the left column. Click the Computer Name tab in the System Properties window and then click Change. Change your workgroup name to be the same as the other PC. From here, each PC should have no problem seeing each other on the network, you just have to share whatever you want to. To share a drive, just right click on it in your file Explorer, and click sharring. It will prompt you about security, and there are read/write settings, etc. Sharing the printer works the same way. After that, you should be able to go into your network places, and be able to see the other drives that you've shared, or add a printer choose view one from network.
