Heavy CPU usage when wifi is on

I have a really strange problem here. I recently upgraded to wifi with a LevelOne WBR- 3406TX router and an Airlink AWL4130 Super G PCI card in my desktop setup. All seems to work fine. I get good upload / download speeds, however, I notice that the CPU utilization is constantly high (80%-100%) when the wireless card is turned on. As soon as I disconnect from the network, the usage drops to 0%. I am using ZoneAlarm as my firewall and turning it off/on makes no difference, so I know this is not a problem.
Using my laptop on the network poses no such issues, so it must be my desktop!

My computer is an Athlon 64 3200+ on an Asus A8V motherboard (Soc 939 and latest bios) with 1gb Crucial RAM. Winxp Pro Sp2.
Help!
