How do I block sites from myself?
I've had a very frustrating problem with some very distracting sites. I want to make it completely impossible for myself to ever visit them again on my computer. How can I do this? The solution could involve someone else setting a password on something for me, if there's no way to do it completely on my own.

Open IE, Tools, Internet Options, Security, Restricted Sites. You can add any sites you don't want to visit there. You can also put them in the HOSTS file, a bit more manual type of operation.

Re: How do I block sites from myself?
You're not listening. If I just add sites there that I don't want to visit, I can just remove them later and allow myself to go to them. I want to know if I can make this completely impossible. There must be some way for me to password protect the hosts file or something, and then forget the password.

Re: How do I block sites from myself?
You can download a program like net nanny. There are free alternatives, you just need to google parental control software. Create a long random digit password that you can never remember. Write it down. Once you set the restrictions and the password has been entered, burn or shred the paper. The problem with this is sometimes good sites get blocked, and you will never be able to allow them through, or possibly even uninstall the program (but there are ways around that). Good luck until you can get upper hand on this.
