Need help setting up home network

Hello All

Ok so i have a D-Link DI624 wireless router which doesn't seem to want to work. On the web interface there is a button that says cables on it and when i click it, it says theres in no connection from on the WAN port. Does this mean that my router is fried or what.

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Make/model of the broadband modem.
Make/model of the router (if any).
Connection type, wired, wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc.)
Make/model of network card or wireless adapter.
Make/model of your computer (motherboard if home-built).
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2, Vista, etc.

Since the message says you have a problem with the WAN port, that's the port that the broadband modem connects to. Have you tried a new cable and reset the modem?

Network card on PC is a D-Link DFE 530TX+PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (REV.F)
Motherboard is a Shuttle AV49VN (not completely sure on model #)
Win XP SP2

Yeah I've tried like 3 different cables, and the router had be rebooted like 5 times.

Did you reset the modem by unplugging the power for 15 seconds or more?

The issue could be either the modem or router. If you connect directly to the modem, can you make a connection?

i left the modem unplugged one time for about 5 mins.

Try this procedure. If it doesn't work, my guess is the router is dead.

Reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset button down for 15 seconds with power on.

• Turn off everything, the modem, router, computer.
• Connect the modem to the router's WAN/Internet port.
• Connect the computer to one of the router's LAN/Network ports.
• Turn on the modem, wait for a steady connect light.
• Turn on the router, wait for two minutes.
• Boot the computer.

When the computer is completely booted, let's see this.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
