Cross contamination?
What risks do I take hooking up a PC of unknown security to my router (NetGear VPN824 )? Is there anything, besides antivirus on the other machines of course, that prevents "cross contaimination?" The reason I ask is that I was working on a hard drive for a friend and had thrown it into one of my systems. I did a repair installation of Windows and of course had to activate before I could access the user account. Therefore, I was connected to my router for a few minutes. I disconnected it as soon as I realized the possibilities. They do have Norton 360 installed, but they are not very savvy so I would not trust this alone.
Should I be concerned? Should I avoid doing this at all costs in the future? I will complete a scan tonight to be safe. Thanks. PK |
