I'm installing a Network Printer and it is configured correctly, It Prints, Pings, and can be added and so forth. Here is the Issue. I have a network cable run that is about 50- 65 Ft. away from the switch. The PCs there all can get online and e-mail and on my local domain. But when I plug in my network Printer ( NOTHING ) but the L.E.D.s of the network connector is showing. It does not ping, Send a Test Page, Register on the print server. But when I use a 5ft. Cable and everything works fine. Even the test pages I sent earlier printed as soon as the printer powered up. So how is it that I can't print from a long cable but can from a short cable. If there is a setting I overlooked this will be very helpful in the future.
Thank you. |

Re: Network Printer Cable Issue Help???
What is connected to the end of that 60 foot cable? Since you mention PC's, one can only assume that there's a switch at the end? The length of an Ethernet cable should not be an issue, as long as it's less than 100 meters.

Re: Network Printer Cable Issue Help???
There is a Catalyst Cisco Switch where the cable comes from. That is working fine. The Other PC's that are connected to that switch all have network activity and they can get on the network just fine.

Re: Network Printer Cable Issue Help???
I've solved this issue. if you can log into the switch isolate the port and lower the speed bit rate down ( 100 -10 ) and to full speed. Mine was at auto. after this I plugged it back in and did a test page and that was it.
