lag issues. PLEASE HELP

Ok every time I play battlefield or any internet game. Every like 40 seconds my ping goes up to about 880 for like 2 seconds then goes back down to 90. All my background programs are off, and the only thing using the internet is battlefield. I have a really good computer so why does it lag? thanks for your guys' help.

how do you connect to the internet? Are you behind a router?

I use a wireless usb adapter. The wierd thing is that it just started lagging. I use to be able to play perfectly. And I haven't made any major new updates.

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

The name of your ISP and country of residence.
Make/model of the broadband modem.
Make/model of the router.
Encryption used, (WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc.)
Make/model of network card or wireless adapter.
Make/model of your computer (motherboard if home-built).
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2, Vista, etc.

Also, please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.
