Remote Desktop to Harddrive
I have a basic networking system at home with a wireless router. I have a network harddrive (Buffalo linkstation) hooked up to the router as well. Is there a way to have remote setup that when I connect remotely, it goes directly and only to the harddrive. I tried setting up in the router settings the IP address of the harddrive, rather than the computer, however, it doesnt seem to have the ability to let me login remotely. Suggestions? Thanks.

Re: Remote Desktop to Harddrive
Most NAS drives have FTP capability, that's what I use here. Look for the FTP server configuration on the Buffalo Linkstation. You'll also have to forward port 21 through your router to allow the connection. I configure my NAS for static IP addresses to make the port forwarding work.
Make sure you use a good user name and complex password, since the FTP server will be visible to anyone on the Internet. ![]()
