Networking problems: 360 and PC
I've been having a lot of trouble with this lately... I used to have no problems with WMC, but since I 'upgraded' to WMP11, I've been unable to network the two.
Just so everyone knows the set up, I have an Aliant Premium High Speed set up with a Speadstream 4200 routed through a Linksys BEFW11S4 router. Now, originally, the problem simply lay in the fact that my WMP11 could see the XBox 360 and share with it, but my 360 could not 'see' my PC. I tried restarting the services under services.msc, and also tried clearing the DRM, to no avail whatsoever. The 360 REFUSED to 'see' the PC. So I tried uninstalling and reverting to WMP10 and WMC set up... Unfortunately, when I did that, WMC couldn't even see the 360, so I upgraded to WMP11 again and now Neither the XBox 360 or the computer can see each other. This is a bit of a step back from where I was from. I even tried installing Zune and seeing if that would work, still, no luck. Both networked devices seem 'blind' to each other, if you will. I tried a variety of things and combinations on both machines, such as altering the subnet masks and changing between Obtain IP Address Automatically and PPOE connections, with no luck. Anyone have an idea how I might solve this issue? |

Re: Networking problems: 360 and PC
I remember vaguely setting up my 360 to the network. If I recall, it required Zune to network the files. I think the whole article may be found here. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/sy...almedia/pc.htm And at a glance I know it had a section for WMP11, good luck.

Actually, you did mention you had tried Zune, I was mentioning that I did believe it was required.
Unfortunately, I'm no expert at this particular subject. If I were you, I'd try just googling "connect xbox 360 + wmp11." Good luck. |

Re: Networking problems: 360 and PC
Believe me I've tried googling the hell out of this issue. That's where I got the DRM fixes and the suggestion to revert to WMP 10. Nothing really worked, and turned out worse than it was before.

Re: Networking problems: 360 and PC
Just an update: I've tried networking with TVersity and even after forwarding all the appropriate ports, I'm still unable to achieve a connection with my computer. *sigh* I'm running out of ideas.

Re: Networking problems: 360 and PC
Further update: I've tried directly connecting my PC to my XBox 360 and they still couldn't see each other. I couldn't connect with either WMP11, Zune, or TVersity. The XBox 360 wouldn't even be displayed in the 'shared devices' list.
