Hiya all,
I have recently purchased a HP DV6547TX notebook which comes with a wireless connection. My PC however has never had wireless and because we have cable connection here things seemed a bit awkward. Today I purchased a Belkin F5D7230-4 wireless router and after much stuffing around managed to get it setup. The router is hardwired to my pc and I have internet connection, however, I cannot get wireless connection and I would like my laptop to connect to my desktop and be able to share files and the internet when I am at home. How on earth do I do this? I have tried to create a wireless connection on my desktop pc and it says there is no wireless devices found. I have tried to do this on my laptop sitting right next to the router and this says no wireless devices found aswell. This is my ipconfig/all details for you and I am stuffed if I know what to do now. Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6000] Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Re: Belkin wireless & notebook help needed!!!!
Hi,
I thought I covered make/models but I will list as you have shown: The name of your ISP and country of residence. E-Wire - Australia Make/model of the broadband modem. If dial-up, please specify. 3Com Modem Make/model of the router (if any). Cable Connection - Belkin F5D7230-4 ver. 4004au Connection type, wired, wireless. Wired to Desktop PC, attempting to get wireless laptop connected If wireless, encryption used, (WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc.) Laptop is suppose to connect either WPA or WPA2 Make/model of network card or wireless adapter. Desktop - Nvidia nforce networking controller, notebook - Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN Make/model of your computer (motherboard if home-built). Desktop - home built Nforce 4, laptop - HP DV6547TX Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2, Vista, etc. Vista 64bit Ultimate - all latest updates on both Yes, as you can see I can get my desktop to connect to the net, however I cannot get my router to recognise the wireless laptop. When I run the easy install wizard for the router, it doesn't complete and I cannot access 192.168.2.1 to enter the configue of the router. As far as my desktop PC is concerned, when I search for wireless devices it doesn't even see the router. |

Re: Belkin wireless & notebook help needed!!!!
How about an IPCONFIG /ALL from the laptop? You don't need a wireless card in the desktop to share wirelessly with the laptop. Also, did you try connecting the laptop with a wire to see if it connects that way?
