Mapped drives on non domain machines

How do i go about mapping a network drive to a pc that is not on our domain, or just browsing to that drive?

I have tried the right click my network places and map drive and it wont find the server that is on.

How do I do it on a machine that is on the local network but not on the domain, and a machine that is in a remote site that isn't on our domain?

Yes, im a noob.

I normally just browse to local machines on the network. Of course, that assumes the machine has file/print sharing enabled and a shared resource enabled.
