OK, I've tried everything I can think of. I now need professional(ish) help. I cannot access one website:
http://www.neopets.com I know it's not these: My modem or router. I can still access it from my Wii(Game system). I'm pretty sure it's not my Anti-virus/firewall McAfee; I added it to the safe list. I can get to it from NinjaProxy with full use(Except it won't load the flash images). I can get to it from the IP Address, but cannot log-in. I have tried everything. I even deleted the "etc" file from my "drivers" file in "system32". I like the website. But it would be very embarrassing to go to someone to fix this. Also, I'm not all that computer literate. I know how to do a lot, but what these forums encompass is way beyond me. But, please help! Thanks. |

Re: Cannot Access One Website
To start, I am not a computer expert, nor am I well known on the forums
Now that we have that out of the way... Have you deleted your temporary internet files? If not, do so. If that doesn't fix the problem (which it probably wont), open up a command prompt (start->Run->cmd.exe) and type ipconfig/renew (note that you have to be logged in as an admin to do this...I think). These are pretty basic things, but you should start with them. Also, as your isp will tell you if you call them, unplug both your modem and your router, wait 10-30 seconds, and plug both of them back in (it may be wise to do this with the computer off, as they say, however it works fine for me with it on). If these things dont work, post back and say so, and hopefully some amazingly smart person on these forums can help you Just thought i'd throw the basics out there. Best of Luck KFJ **EDIT** I misunderstood you, i thought you meant that you could <i>only</i> get to that site. Sounds like you are on the right track then. Maybe the site was down, how long have you been trying to access it? it could be your antivirus, try shutting it down temporarally. Your router also, depending on the model, may have a firewall attached that could possibally have randomly decided to block it. If you are wireless, you will need an ethernet cable. Connect directly to your modem with it and restart the modem (unplug for 30 seconds, re-plug in. Do this with the computer off, as you are majorly changing your ip configuration. when the modem is all powered back on, turn your computer on. once you get connectivity, try. If it works, blame your router in the form of a reply, and we can work from there. if the site still doesnt work, then that isnt the problem obviously, and reply, and we can work from there. Thats all I got for now, i'll keep an eye on you Best of luck KFJ Last edited by kungfujoe; 09-06-2007 at 01:13 AM. |

Re: Cannot Access One Website
I've been unable to access since Aug. 29, which as a coincidence, was my birthday...
![]() The site is working. I'm sure. I did shut down McAfee. Didn't help. I have a "Linksys Model WRT54GS ver. 6" with the latest firmware. It has a know problem with strange connections; it will randomly lose connection. I have to unplug and replug the power to get the connection to work. I've been doing that for a few months. Lucky me.I did what you said: still nothing.

Re: Cannot Access One Website
Try uninstalling Logitech Desktop Messenger from Add/Remove Programs, it appears to have done something really odd in the registry.

I did it, but I am still unable to access the site. I even restarted my computer. Also, here's a new log:

The only thing that shows up that might be questionable is this Coupon link...

Re: Cannot Access One Website
I press the "fix this" button, but Neopets.com still is not working on my computer. Any other things I can try?

Re: Cannot Access One Website
You mentioned that you could access the site in NinjaProxy? I'm unfamiliar with this, is it another browser. Which browser are you using by default? I would recommend trying to obtain Firefox 2.0 http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ and seeing if it works with this browser instead. You should still be able to use flash content.
Also, you said that you cannot access this site. What message does the browser give when attempting to access the site? You may want to try updating your version of Java from http://www.java.com to Version 6 Update 2 and also flash from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/downl...h&promoid=BIOW These are just a couple of quickies to see if it tackles the problem. They probably won't work, but it's nice to check it out before we give your machine a rectal exam. |

Re: Cannot Access One Website
Try booting in safe mode with networking and then try pinging the site:
Start, Run, CMD PING neopets.com Tell us the results.

Re: Cannot Access One Website
When you first start your computer, press F10 (after one 'click' tone is heard or before the bootscreen shows up) then you will see the windows of which OS to boot by, do not choose any of them but, instead, press F8. And you will see the SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING in the second line.
Some computers only need to press F8 directly without being preceded by F10 (however, my computer needs F10 before F8). Remember not to let the bootscreen shows up before you press F10 (or F8). Otherwise, you'll have to restart your PC. |
