Belkin Router Problem

Hello,

I am having an issue with connectting to the internet through any of the ports on my Belkin Router (f5D7230au4).

The Belkin Router is connectted via an ethernet cable to a Netgear ADSL2+ modem (DM111P).

The internet runs fine when the cpu is directly connectted to the netgear modem.

I have been into the Belkin settings (192.168.2.1) and reset the router and entered in the correct ISP user name / password through a PPPoE connection type but still no luck. I can not Ping the ISP when connected through the Belkin router.

Just wondering if anybody has any ideas? Maybe a compatablity issue between the brands? Is there anything I need to unlock or configure on the netgear modem maybe?

Thanks Heaps!!!

Josh

Re: Belkin Router Problem

Try setting the WAN connection type as Dynamic.

Re: Belkin Router Problem

Do you have to configure the name/password for this modem on your service? If so, did you configure that in the router?

Re: Belkin Router Problem

Yes I had to manually configure the modem with the username and password and I had to do the same for the router but still no luck?

I have tried the router on a Dynamic connection type also...

Re: Belkin Router Problem

Have you configured that modem in bridge mode? I see references that that is required. From http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop...ProductID=3826

There is no real manual for this and it does not appear on Netgear's support drop down.

Netgear tech support (via the web not telephone) got this working for me.

When used with a Belkin router the DM111P must be set to "RFC2684 bridging" mode.

The belkin WAN setting must then be changed to PPPoE and my ISP's username and password etc entered on the Belkin.

Strange that I did not have to do this with my dlink but I'm very happy that is works now.

I guess this is a cleaner way of doing things. One side effect is that I now cannot get the the netgear's webserver (192.168.0.1) via the belkin (192.168.2.1) without connecting a pc directly to it with a static ip address.
