[SOLVED] Large file transfer problem
Hi, I have 2 computers, 1 running Vista Ultimate 32-bit and the other running XP Professional. Both computers are networked via a router. The problem is we can transfer some files from one to the other no problems but larger files such as ISO files won't transfer. They start to and get about a third into it but then on the Vista machine I get "There is a problem accessing \\pcname\shared folder. Make sure you are connected to the network and try again" or on the XP machine I get "network address is no longer available" the network is connected, both computers can see each other and smaller files transfer no problem. The network used to work properly no problems, and the only thing that's changed is a third computer is no longer on the network. I just can't figure out why it's not working, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Large file transfer problem
Is this a wired or wireless network?
If wired then I don't know and you may as well stop reading here - sorry. I had similar problems doing disk images across a wireless network. I eventually decided that wireless was just too slow and tried homeplug instead - that was also slow but at least it did work. In the end I settled for a little external usb drive for my backups. |
