Cry site connection problem

HI, am new to this forum and I hope I am in the correct place.

My problem - I can not connect to a specific site on the internet. I have tried IE 6, my regular browser, and Mozilla and get the same results. I am using Wndows XP

I seem to get to the server and hang "..waiting for a reply..."

On my home network, my wifes' Mac connects with no problem, but this does not help me as my software for the site, does not run on Macs.

The site is www.skygolf.com
nothing special about the site and it should be open to evryone??

I have been using the site for 2 months connecting and downloading info.

Any suggestions?
Thanks
Pete Kelly

(Hope I can find responses!!!)

Re: site connection problem

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

TRACERT www.skygolf.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: site connection problem

Actually, I tried it and get a similar result. However, I can get to the site with no issues.

The site name is getting resolved, so I'd have to be thinking a firewall, or perhaps a restrict has been placed on that site in IE. Have you tried a different browser, like Firefox? That would tell us if it's an IE issue.

Re: site connection problem

I have seen this type of problem before with one of my clients. It ended up being a problem with his ISP's DNS. After a call to his ISP, I was given a new DNS server to use in his router, and it fixed the problem.

My client had 6 computers on his network, and only one of them had this problem.

Try a new DNS server from your ISP.

Hope this helps

Re: site connection problem

If you think it's a DNS issue, you could try configuring for OpenDNS and see if that changes the symptoms.

Re: site connection problem

Glad you figured it out. I guess my firewall guess was right.
