[SOLVED] dns cache holds ad server addys
I hope I'm posting this at the right place. It seems to be a difficult topic to pigenhole.
When I use the <ipconfig /displaydns> command I see a rather long list of apparent ad servers. The list is seen below. Is this normal?? If they are parasites how can I evict them?? Its in your computer also? It must come as part of Windows XP.
 I did flush the dns resolver cache but they are still there. Darn I feel like an occupied country must feel. Oh well I put their names in the hosts file, that oughta slow em down some. Oh~! Now I see. It is the hosts file I'm seeing. As an experiment I added a fictional entry into the hosts file and sure enough it showed up in the dns cache. Yoy!!

So did I, I didn't realize that also showed the HOSTS file entries.
 Of course, I don't put anything in my HOSTS file...
